Temporary residency

Valid 1–4 years, renewable annually. Requires income or savings documentation and an initial consulate appointment in your home country.

Permanent residency

After four years of temporary status (or via other qualifying paths), you can apply for permanent residency, which does not expire and requires no new income documentation.

Common mistakes

  • Applying at a consulate that doesn’t match your home address
  • Underestimating processing time
  • Not bringing enough financial documentation
